ClergyClimateAction.org is a hub for religious leaders to organize each other to do prayerful and visionary nonviolent civil disobedience for climate justice.
It is time for us as religious leaders to be on the front lines of climate action. At this point in history, that means resisting new fossil fuel infrastructure and the existing fossil fuel economy with our own direct action. For many of us, that means risking arrest by doing peaceful, principled civil disobedience. For many of us, that means supporting those called to risk arrest.
The clergy who sign the pledge and take action are not an organization and have no central governing committee. We are each called by our love of this world, humanity, and the divine as we experience it to lead by example for climate justice. This site provides a platform and resources for us to organize our actions.
Get involved by first signing the pledge to take direct action.
Our goal is to help clergy identify others in their area to organize a local affinity groups to take action together, to help seed ideas for action planning, and to be able to offer the training and other resources of the Climate Disobedience Center to support successful actions from conception to action and to the legal consequences. We look forward, on this site, to hosting resources for talking to your congregation or community about your engagement in nonviolent civil disobedience for climate justice
Please don't hesitate to be in touch, we're eager to work with you.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Shoshana Meira Friedman, Brookline, MA
